I'm new here, and I've seen some comments (and read an interesting post
leodadominico.deviantart.com/j…) which tell me that commenting is a) better than favourite-ing, b) not done very well by most people... Having just spent two days being fairly happy with people fav-ing my stuff, and having faved a lot of work with nary a comment, I was wondering - am I being a terrible person and a tactless noob (and generally a hunnerd and three and just past understanding anything)? Or is this an ideal of some-but-not-all deviants, and am I ok winging it (while occasionally putting my foot in things)? I saw a comment on a deviation (from the artist) which said 'Comment before favouriting', so I just left - cos, you know, it was something I liked, but meh.
Anyone have any thoughts/guidance/advice? I do take the point, and where I can I will try to be better at giving detailed comments, but I don't think I'll ever move into flat-out critique... But in so many cases I'm just bowled over by something, and all I feel is 'wow' or 'gorgeous!' or 'WANT. WANT.' And someone favouriting me (with or without comment) makes me very adequately happy... Just a by-product of multiple communities and different uses?
